Letter from Bishop Jaime Soto

Bishop Jaime SotoDear Faithful,

I am writing to encourage your participation in an organization founded to foster Catholic fellowship and formation. With my support and blessing, the Catholic Breakfast Club has been restructured and broadened to become the Sacramento Catholic Forum.

  • The new Sacramento Catholic Forum has been shifted to a luncheon format so that more people are able to attend (a recent luncheon drew almost 250 attendees who were inspired by Fr. Jonathan Morris, a noted television commentator, at the Radisson).
  • In order to be available to the greatest number of people, the Sacramento Catholic Forum will no longer be membership based. There will be no annual dues; attendees will pay as they register for the luncheon. Young and old, professional and retired, lay and religious - all are encouraged to attend. The format change is especially designed to draw a broad spectrum of attendees.
  • The website is being enhanced to allow for ease of registration, increased networking, expanded education, news items of interest, all designed to share the latest in Catholic information on Church teaching as well as current and topical issues of interest.
  • There will be added capacity for yellow page listings and visibility for Catholics and their businesses to encourage and facilitate networking among the Catholic community.

Please be assured, the Sacramento Catholic Forum is designed to help you to be better informed as well as provide network opportunities with others in the Diocese. This is not a club for fundraising, nor will its lists of participants be shared or sold. The goal is to build a more cohesive, Catholic community through the use of speakers, the website, and the networking of members - an efficient and effective communication tool. I support and encourage these efforts. I ask you to do so as well, by your attendance and participation. This organization, under the auspices and authority of the Diocese of Sacramento and its non-profit status, has a wonderful potential to bring us together through education, evangelization, catechesis, networking, and renewal. Please take time to register on the website to start receiving information on upcoming events.

Respectfully,

+Jaime Soto
Bishop of Sacramento
